I was a pretty casual Andrew Bird fan until I heard Hands of Glory, the “musical companion” to his album Break it Yourself. Bird travels down a simple country path on this musical companion, and if “Three White Horses” is evidence enough, listen to his take on Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You.” He does a fine job on the cover and this entire musical companion has given me reason to spend a bit more time with Bird’s catalog.
